Cindy has been an oncology nurse for more than 40 years. She completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Western Ontario & her Masters’ in Nursing at the University of Toronto. She has been a NP with the malignant hematology program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for 22 years. Prior to that she worked in various roles in the cancer programs at Princess Margaret Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne & Toronto General Hospital. She has been a staff nurse on the allogeneic bone marrow transplant unit; clinical trials nurse for Phase 1 clinical trials; co ordinator in the autologous stem cell transplant program. She holds a clinical appointment at the University of Toronto in the Bloomberg School of Nursing.

Shannon Nixon, MN NP

Shannon Nixon is a Nurse Practitioner with the Malignant Hematology Program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Ontario. She has over 20 years of experience caring for patients with acute leukemia and complex lymphomas. She is currently working on her Doctor of Nursing degree at the University of Toronto. Her thesis is focused on evaluating the implementation of shared-care programs in complex malignant hematology, to improve health equity and support patients with safe and effective care closer to home.

Dior Caruso is a Nurse Practitioner in the Multiple Myeloma Program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She completed the Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Toronto and has over 10 years of experience working as an oncology nurse. Her current role focuses on providing care in an outpatient clinic to patients with multiple myeloma and other plasma cell disorders within the complex malignant hematology setting. She also holds a certification in palliative care and has a special interest in health advocacy.

Kayla Madsen is an experienced Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of specialized expertise in hematology and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Over the course of her career, Kayla has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings across Canada, contributing her skills to prominent healthcare institutions such as Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto and QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. She has been published in leading academic journals for her research on post-transplant complications and management, aiming to improve patient outcomes. In her current role, she is responsible for the acute and long-term management of allogeneic and autologous transplants, as well as CAR T-cell therapy.

Jessica Rebeiro has spent the entirety of her nursing career in malignant hematology over the past 14 years. She first began as an oncology nurse at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She completed the Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Toronto. She went on to complete the first Ron and Nancy Clark Nurse Practitioner Fellowship in Hematology, and has now been a Nurse Practitioner within the Malignant Hematology program at Juravinski Hospital for almost 6 years. She has experience within the inpatient and outpatient acute leukemia, allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplant, and cellular therapy programs.

Christina Zeglinski is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with 15 years of hematology oncology experience. The bulk of her career has been in the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (ASCT) and Immune Effector Cell (IEC) Program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM). During that time she co-developed both the outpatient ASCT and CAR T programs which are both NP-led programs. More recently, she transitioned to the community setting and currently works at St. Josephs Health Centre in both malignant hematology and medical oncology.

Christina actively holds an academic appointment as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto as well as a Practice Based Researcher appointment at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at Unity Health. She is currently the primary investigator of a research study which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS) multimodal nursing educational program in a community hospital setting.

Tina Cheung is Nurse Practitioner in the Endocrinology Program at the University Health Network and an Adjunct Lecturer of the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She leads the Transitional Diabetes Clinic at Toronto General Hospital which specializes in Diabetes care in specialized populations including oncology. Her research is in quality improvement and innovation. She was the recipient of the Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario Innovation award for her work in elderly care.

Shannon Farley, NP

Shannon graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Acute Adult Nurse Practitioner. Shannon currently is a Nurse Practitioner at William Olser responsible for the in-patient oncology and transplant programs. During her 25 year career Shannon has worked in stem cell transplant at PMH and SickKids as well as establishing a tertiary acute symptom management unit at Juravinski. She has collaborated in many initiatives including establishing a Peel regional program for sexual health for Oncology patients and more recently was instrumental in establishing the first community-based bipecific T-cell engager program in Canada. Some of Shannon’s awards include the Seymour Schulich Graduate Student Award, the Toronto Star Nightingale Award, and the Chief’s Award of Excellence.

Elizabeth Herrity AGACNP-BC, DNP, RN(EC), BSN

Elizabeth began her nursing career in 2011, in Minneapolis, where she worked as an RN in Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and the Intensive Care Unit Float Pool. Her passion for medical oncology and hematology continued, and in 2016 she graduated from a Doctorate of Nursing Program as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her NP roles were largely focused on medical oncology inpatient services and later acute leukemia and allogeneic stem cell transplant when she transitioned from the University of Minnesota Medical Center to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. With a deep interest in oncology infectious diseases, she particularly enjoyed participating in multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship rounds for NPs at Princess Margaret. An author of clinical reviews and original research articles, Liz is committed to both clinical practice, research, and lifelong learning. This fall, she began medical school at the University of Toronto while continuing to work as an NP at GNMI Imaging and doing clinical outcomes research with the Leukemia Physician Team at Princess Margaret.

Sheena earned her undergraduate degree from Thompson Rivers University in 2003, gaining experience in a variety of clinical specialties, with a primary focus on emergency care across British Columbia and Alberta. In 2017, she completed the Master’s and Acute Adult Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Toronto. The following year she became one of the first two NPs in Quebec to practice with the Adult Care Nurse Practitioner designation.

Since 2018, her practice has been in malignant hematology at the Jewish General Hospital, managing complex hematology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. With a particular focus on Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), Sheena helped develop an AML database and outpatient clinic. She is also involved in research focusing on the use of the serious illness conversation guide in addressing palliative care in patients with hematological malignancies. This research was presented at the American Society of Hematology conference in December 2024.

In 2022, Sheena was appointed Assistant Director of the Adult Care NP concentration at McGill, where she developed an original theory on the nurse practitioner clinical reasoning cycle and works to enhance NP education in Quebec.

Jessica Holmes is a Nurse Practitioner in Medical Oncology at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. She started in the role in 2021 after graduating from the University of Toronto Post Master’s NP (adult) program. She has over 15 years’ experience working in oncology. In her current role she provides care to patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, including the NP led long-term follow-up clinic.

Kari has been a Nurse Practitioner in the Malignant Hematology Program at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for over 20 years. She currently works in the outpatient clinic managing cellular therapy and leukemia patients. She is cross appointed in the School of Nursing at McMaster University and is the NP lead for the Ron and Nancy Clark Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program.

Janet Malcolmson, MS, CGC

Janet Malcolmson received a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counselling from Long Island University Post and has been certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling since 2016. Before joining the Bhalwani Familial Cancer Clinic at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in 2018, Janet previously worked in a general genetics clinic at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, in New Jersey. Janet is a is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Toronto and is actively involved in the genetic counselling program as a clinical supervisor. She provides genetic counselling for patients for all cancer indications however has an interest in hereditary hematological malignancies and has collaborated with hematologists to implement a mainstreaming approach for this patient population. Janet is part of the Ontario Health’s Hereditary Hematology working group and has helped to develop proposed criteria and germline panels for patients in Ontario with hematologic malignancies. Janet was part of the author group for NSGC’s Practice Resource on Risk Assessment and Genetic Counselling for Hematologic Malignancies.

Tracy Nagy

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Tracy Nagy is a Senior Medical Science Liaison at FORUS Therapeutics, specializing in hematology with a particular focus on Myeloma. Tracy has been deeply involved in the field for many many years, leveraging extensive clinical knowledge and a passion for patient care to bridge scientific research and clinical practice.

Before joining FORUS, Tracy served as an MSL at Celgene, where she focused on hematological malignancies, particularly Myeloma and CAR T therapy. Her career in oncology and hematology began in 1985 when she graduated with a Nursing Diploma from Ryerson University and started her career at Toronto General Hospital in general medicine. It was during this time that Tracy discovered her passion for hematology, caring for patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Throughout their tenure at Toronto General Hospital, Tracy held several key roles, including Unit Educator, Patient Care Coordinator, and Assistant Head Nurse. Driven by a desire for continuous learning and growth, she returned to school to complete her nursing degree, before taking on the role of Autologous Transplant Coordinator at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in 1994. There, she shared a small cubicle with Cindy Murray and quickly became known for her enthusiasm and energy in the clinical care of patients.

In 2010, after 25 years at PMH, Tracy made a bold career transition into the pharmaceutical industry, joining Celgene to focus on hematological therapies. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career, where she brought her vast clinical expertise and passion for patient care to the world of drug development and medical science liaison work.

Today, Tracy continues to contribute to advancements in Myeloma and other hematological diseases, with a commitment to improving patient outcomes and fostering collaborative relationships between science, medicine, and industry.

Laura Patton

Laura Patton is also a Nurse Practitioner in Medical Oncology at KHSC. Laura has worked as an RN in oncology for the last 8 years, in inpatient oncology settings and in the systemic treatment unit. After completing her Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program at Queen’s in 2021, Laura joined the Medical Oncology team at KGH. A component of that role is working in and further developing the Long-Term Lymphoma Follow-Up Clinic, an NP led clinic where lymphoma and CLL patients undergo surveillance.

Coleen Power, NP, MN, MPH, CCNC

Coleen Power is the nurse practitioner in the Ted Rogers Cardiotoxicity Prevention Program at the Peter Munk Cardiac Center – Toronto General Hospital. She has been in that role since May 2020. She has an extensive background as a nurse practitioner in both cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. She completed a BScN at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish Nova Scotia, a MN/NP program at Dalhousie University, a Masters of Public Health at the University of Edinburgh, and is currently a PhD nursing student at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.

Katherine Trip, NP

Kathy started her career as a Registered Nurse in Northern Newfoundland and then came home to Toronto to work in several hospitals and many areas of practice. She has worked in emergency, medicine, community care, abuse liability research, long term care and oncology. Her role as an oncology research nurse soon became a quest for more patient involvement and she completed her MN NP at the University of Toronto. After 21 years at UHN Kathy joined the University of Toronto. Since joining UofT, Kathy has taken on several roles, including Graduate Program Practicum Coordinator, Coordinator of the Adult NP program, and instructor for multiple NP courses. Kathy currently serves as the Coordinator of NP Programs and is working with her colleagues there to expand the NP program to include a clinic at Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. She envisions fostering a collaborative, interprofessional learning environment through partnerships with various health faculties involved in this new initiative. Kathy also maintains a clinical practice as a casual NP working in the Autologous Day Hospital at PMH.
